Full Story:
The Veterinary Emergency Clinic (VEC) in Toronto provides emergency veterinary services 24/7 including holidays through its two convenient locations, including one in the heart of downtown Toronto.
The established VEC service provides specialty care to complement the services of their clients' primary care veterinarian.
For the past few years the VEC showcased their services on-line utilizing an all-Flash website. "Flash" - a technology initially introduced in 1996 - has lately become popular for building animation components for use on web pages. Some website developers even use Flash technologies to build complete web sites. However, the latter approach is not necessary the best possible solution for all business applications. For example, it can be difficult, time-consuming and expensive to maintain content on a website that has been developed entirely using Flash.
Such was the case with the previous VEC website. Content updates for the full-Flash web presence had become cumbersome, unproductive and costly. Clearly, a new, fresh methodology was required, designed to put the VEC content authors back in the driver's seat.
COMMbits moved-in with its innovative approach of separating content from underlying structures (layout, navigation, scripts, etc.) and designed a new "look" that resembled the previous site's look. Only this time, content can be updated at the server-side from the VEC end, using any computer, anywhere, with access to the Internet and a standard web browser. This is possible with COMMbits DOME, the legendary Content Management System that makes content changes possible without any special technical knowledge required.
For the first time - ever - the Veterinary Emergency Clinic content authors too can be truly in control of the content on their own website. Unlimited updates, anytime, from anywhere!
The new website, which is now powered by COMMbits Business Web Hosting Services, is at vectoronto.com.
