One of largest wood urn manufacturers in N. America launches new e-commerce site powered by a COMMbits-designed custom-made ordering system.
Heartland Urns has brought a history of fine furniture design and craftsmanship to the urn manufacturing business. They are committed to the philosophy of applying classic design principles and excellence in craftsmanship as a factor distinguishing them from their competition.

In order to implement their strategy they required the development of a new on-line ordering system, complete with an automated credit card authorization system. Clearly, none of the existing Shopping Cart systems would suffice, because their offerings include only a few products and the ordering procedure has some idiosyncrasies. For example, they required the ordering system to “remember” basic client information without asking for re-visiting clients to login. Another crucial requirement was the design of a multi-page ordering system, offering the ability to easily navigate between the pages.
This is when they turned to COMMbits for help.
COMMbits used the powerful PHP server programming language to design a custom ordering system with “intelligent” navigation system. Order pages become available to the client only after they have accepted their choices on the previous page. Other custom features included the ability to attach photo files to orders, automatic generation of unique order numbers, a shipping calculator and rich HTML customer feedback email messages.
The system can also detect whether a re-visiting clients have any un-submitted order from their previous visit. In such cases clients are automatically presented with the option to either complete and submit their existing order or start a new order.
In addition, the system “remembers” basic client information such as name, address and telephone, and automatically populates order forms on subsequent visits with this information to minimize typing on behalf of the client.
COMMbits, who is also offering Canada Payment Processing services to clients, has also integrated an automated Payment Processing system into Heartland Urn’s custom ordering system for a complete, 360 degree solution. Credit card capture takes place on a fully secured web server, and authentication is immediate. Debit-credit transactions take place automatically and client & merchant are notified accordingly via email.
