Full Story:

Spanish bookstore Toronto Canada"Vision Bookstore" is a Spanish and English bookstore in Toronto with focus on Christian literature and motivational literature. The bookstore has a long and successful history operating its store in Toronto and has recently decided to expand into the on-line world with a fully-fledged solution, using the new trade name "Pillar Books".

Just like any other new on-line merchant, the client soon realized the numerous challenges of a true, robust, efficient and effective on-line storefront, which extend beyond just the new on-line web presence, and include the development of new order fullfillment processes and recurring data input just to name a few.

COMMbits was there to help from day one with its "all-inclusive", "1-stop shop" solution and provided services and assistance in the following areas:

  • Assisted the client to register its own merchant account through Moneris, a leading registrar of Merchant accounts in Canada which COMMbits recommends.
  • Provided the client with a Payment Processing gateway account.
  • Provided creative design services and developed a new, consistent "look 'n feel" for the whole web site.
  • Installed, customized and configured a leading open-source Shopping Cart software System-solution, which resembles the operations and functionality of the seasoned Amazon.com on-line shopping experience.
  • Installed WYSIWYG components inside the Shopping Cart Administrator's Control Panel to simplify data entry by the merchant.
  • Provided staff training and assisted the development of a new fullfillment process.
  • Provided a real-time connector with Canada Post (see below).
  • Integrated the merchant and payment processing accounts with the shopping cart, delivering a seamless, homogenous system.
The end result provides shoppers with a rich experience and promotes up-selling. Features include multiple product categories, searching, multiple destination addresses, product reviews, product photos, multilingual interface, multiple currencies, bestellers, customer registration, special offers and more.

Canada Post:
COMMbits has integrated into the Shopping Cart a "live" connector with Canada Post. This component provides the shopper at real time shipping options available through Canada Post, based on product dimensions, weight and shippment destination. The screenshots below show two different shipping option calculations for the same Shopping Cart contents but for two different destinations. Watch how the system automatically responds with different shipping options for each destination.

Security
e-commerce solutions TorontoTo provide maximum security and mitigate risk for both the shopper and the merchant, COMMbits does not store any credit card numbers on its server. Instead, during the checkout process it seamlessly forwards the shopper to the highly secure web site of its Payment Processing Partner. The shopper then submits his or her credit card information on a page protected by high-bit SSL security. The information is then securely forwarded to the financial institutions and an "accepted" or "declined" token is seamlessly returned back to the COMMbits server, which updates all database information relevant to the order transaction and automatically informs the merchant and the shopper about the transaction.
