Copper Kettle Chocolate Company, best known for over 30 varieties of award-winning, unique chocolate bark, launches its new COMMbits e-commerce website, open to both wholesale and retail customers.

Since 1997, Copper Kettle Chocolate has sold mouth-watering chocolate products to both wholesale and retail customers. Five of the Company’s chocolate barks have won awards at the acclaimed Canadian Fine Food Show in Toronto, and they are constantly striving to provide customers with the highest quality, best-tasting chocolate bark available.

Copper Kettle Chocolate Company, with a manufacturing operation in beautiful Prince Edward County, Ontario, is a member of the Prince Edward Chamber of Commerce and a partner of “Taste the County”, a celebration of local cuisine promoting the county experience.

The new Company owners decided to open “virtual” store open to both retail and wholesale customers and turned to COMMbits to produce, launch and host a comprehensive, e-commerce web site.

COMMbits jump-started the project with a unique, custom layout design, and created a chocolate-compatible “wrap” around the web site’s content pages and product information.

COMMbits offers a complete e-commerce web site solution and for e-stores such as the Copper Kettle Chocolate one – where a large number of products is required – it integrates a successful e-Commerce Shopping Cart software system from the Open Source Community. COMMbits adds value to the already-existing core Shopping Cart code by carefully integrating the base system with various other add-on components and by retouching some parts of the code to better suit the business needs of each project separately.

In the case of Copper Kettle Chocolate, a Wholesale module has been added, allowing the Company to sell its product in wholesale prices, in addition to the base retail model. COMMbits also integrated a popular module handling Gift Vouchers and Discount Coupons, which allows customers to purchase Gift Vouchers just like any other products from the store. This module – fully administered by the web site owner via the back-office Shopping Cart Administration Module – gives e-store managers a wealth of functions and combinations in relation to product discounts and time or quantity-sensitive special offers.

E-commerce functionality is enhanced by the COMMbits-supported Payment Processing Gateway, which allows customers to pay on-line with a credit card. The fully automated system is secure and approved by major Financial Institutions in Canada and the US. In addition, COMMbits has integrated a fully automated shipping calculator, which interfaces with Canada Post at real-time, providing accurate shipping cost options to customers, based on an order’s total weight, dimensions and shipping destination.
